From location planning to game planning, Arroyo’s first assembly of the year had students full of energy and school pride. Students were able to experience their annual assembly with classmates, friends, and teachers. “It’s nice to see how we kick off the school year with these great activities and how much people look forward to seeing our teachers act silly and coming out of their comfort zones. I mean it’s fun, and academics are extremely important but it’s okay to have fun while also learning” said principal Gabriel Flores.
The Blue, Black, and White (BBW) assembly is a cherished tradition, where students and staff don school colors to celebrate achievements and foster school pride. This year’s event took place at the newly reconstructed B. L. Bergstrom Stadium, where students packed the bleachers, ready to channel their enthusiasm into the celebration, “It was awesome, the face painting, students’ outfits, and the staff was all dressed up and into it and it was overall fun. It was also fun watching adults enjoy it and not just the kids,”said ASB advisor Mr. Brenden Buono.
In the assembly, everyone is included whether you are a student, student-athlete, staff, band member, and etc. There are moments made for everyone throughout the day.
Fall athletes were given a chance to promote their sport and game dates. Each sport had its captains come up to speak to the audience about their game dates and what they hoped to accomplish, this included our boys’ football, girls’ volleyball, girls’ tennis, and boys and girls’ cross country team. All the fall sports teams participated in a game activity during the assembly.
The band and choir team showed off their musical and performance skills during the gathering. “I think they did great, I’m usually a really big fan of our band, their percussion is always great. I feel like they should up the volume more for choir since we were outside a lot of the volume was everywhere so it’s not like the gym where it’s all inside. I think they did really well overall.” said junior Noah Munoz. Arroyo’s band and choir created a special environment for the students by performing a mix of music together.
Many students enjoyed seeing their teachers do fun entertaining skits. Teachers stepped out of their comfort zone and were given the spotlight in the Olympic skit and students versus teachers challenge.“The teachers gave lots of energy during the games they participated in, and the atmosphere felt incredible,” said senior Jubilee Lopez.
