After spending his whole life playing soccer, senior Sebastian Anaya has been selected as one of the athletes of the month by his coach Juan Rodriguez.
Soccer has been a major component in Sebastian’s life. He has been playing since he was five, and for the past 4 years he has been playing the position of striker. Sebastian contributes to his team by scoring plenty of goals throughout the season. “His work on and off the field has been a big part of our success this season. He is our leading scorer and has been unstoppable all season. Along with his skill on the field, he maintains good grades in the classroom,” said Coach Juan Rodriguez.
Sebastian has slowly grown as a player throughout the seasons. “Have faith in yourself,” said Sebastian. With the help of his faith, he has been able to assist and score goals this entire season.
Along with faith, Sebastian is very committed to his sport and to his team. He shows up to practice and puts in the effort to become better and better. “He has committed to the team and his success has rubbed off on our entire program,” said Coach Juan Rodriguez.
Not only does Sebastian do a great job playing, but as well as keeping his grades up. “I manage to keep my grades up by managing my time properly and doing my work in school as much as I can,” said Sebastian.
Soccer is not just a sport to Sebastian, it is something he truly enjoys and makes memories out of and strong bonds. “I feel very happy about it, it’s definitely an award that he deserves to be given. Not only is he an amazing athlete but also a great friend. Watching him play in games has always been entertaining for me to see,” said senior Marc Lopez.
From freshman year to senior year, Sebastian has made a great impact on Arroyo High School’s boys varsity soccer team.“Sebastian, you are so gifted on and off the field. You are one of the most skilled soccer players I have ever coached. It has been a pleasure. Don’t ever give up on your dreams and keep working hard,” said Coach Rodriguez.
