For first time in Arroyo’s girl’s Cross Country history, the Varsity team qualified for CIF Finals. The girls and coaches were all astonished by how far the girls had gone. Throughout the year, the athletes trained hard to push further than they had ever gone before.

To prepare for this accomplishment, the girls and coaches took their time and strength in everything they did. During summer, the girls would work out in the weight room and run miles at a time in the mornings and afternoons.

On the cold morning of the final race, each of the girls impatiently waited to sprint pass the starting line. The girls were the only representatives  of the Arroyo Cross Country program racing that day seeing that the boys team only qualified for Semi-Finals.

Molly Hake, 10,  Varsity Girls Cross Country, proudly states, “It feels very special to be able to race because we were the first to ever to do it.”

Coach Bryon Hake explains, “ The girls ran in the hardest division which was Division 2 and they still made it out to be 19th out of 90 teams. ”

Jazmine Felix, 9, “Coach Hake trained us good, he helped us out a lot.”

Naiden Ceja,10, Varsity Girls Cross Country,  “All the hard work and the hours and pain was worth it to make it this far.”
