How long have you been in the sport?
I’ve been playing soccer since I was five years old. So about 12 years of my life now I have put into this sport.
What Motivates you to keep playing?
My teamsters, my family, and my coaches motivate me. They all push me to be the best player I can be. And my self-determination pushes me to grow each practice and game to improve on the field.
What position do you play and how do you like it?
I play forward and occasionally center mid. I like it, forwards have been new this year. It is a lot of hard work but I have been growing and it has benefited me to become better. I like center mid because I can help out my teammates a lot more and be a part of everything. Whereas with the forward position, I get more opportunities to make goals.
How do you contribute to the team?
I contribute a lot with my leadership, I try to motivate my teammates during halftime if we’re down in a game, and I try to get everybody to pick it back up so they don’t get discouraged and we can make a comeback.
Who are your mentors?
Probably past seniors actually. There have been other players who already graduated that I looked up to during my freshman through junior years. I take aspects of their game that I lack in mine and I try to emulate that into myself in any way I can.
What are your words of advice?
My words of advice is to be understanding with yourself. Sometimes you’ll mess up, take a wrong shot, mess up a pass, or just overall have a bad game. But you can’t let that affect the next game. Don’t beat yourself up over your mistakes because if you do that you’re going to get into your own head and it may affect your future and you don’t want that.
What is your favorite memory of competing at Arroyo?
My favorite memory of competing at Arroyo would probably be the Mountain View game this season as home. We won 5-1 and I scored four goals that game. I really believe that was the best game we played all season. And we also just all really bonded and connected as a team, it was really fun.
