As the year ends, it’s time to say goodbye to the teachers who are retiring.
This year, M.r Ed Gomez, biology teacher, is retiring. He has taught for 22 years, 21 years at Arroyo.
He has taught multiple subjects such as biology, physics, and chemistry for one year. His favorite subject to teach is biology.
“Biology, cause it’s life.”
Along with teaching, he and his students have grown close, like family. Spending time with them was one of the most memorable things for Mr.Gomez, and something he’ll miss very much.
“Just flat out, just teaching the kids. Spending time with my kids.”
“I’ll miss all of my students. I’ll miss explaining things to students, to kids. They’re kind of like my kids.”
In Arroyo, amongst the various events, his favorites are the rallies and spending time with his students.
“Favorite event? I would say just day-to-day teaching, just explaining things, teaching my kids. The rallies were fun too; those were always fun. The rallies, the Renaissance rallies.”
After retiring, Mr. Gomez plans to become a therapist for veterans after he finishes his master’s degree in clinical psychology. This is a passion for Mr. Gomez, as he is a Navy veteran.
Also retiring is Ms.Sung, the world language teacher.
