Holi-date Ideas

In between shopping for Christmas gifts, decorating, and studying for finals, figuring out how make the holiday season special for your significant other can be stressful. To make your job easier, here are some ways to woo your boo in the upcoming months.

Disneyland

While going to Disneyland may put a dent in your wallet at over 100 dollars a ticket, a date at the Happiest Place on Earth will undoubtedly make your significant other’s entire year. Starting November 10th, the world-famous theme park will be in complete holiday mode, decked out in beautiful Christmas lights and decorations, complete with a massive, 60-foot Christmas tree. Take a ride on Haunted Mansion Holiday, a spooky Christmas spin on the classic Haunted Mansion ride, share some hot cocoa at the in-park Starbucks, and snap the essential couple picture in front of the castle.

Ice Skating

Get the experience of a true, snowy winter in the ever-warm California by heading over to a chilly ice skating rink. This is not only a relatively cheap activity, with admission at about $11 per person at the Pasadena Ice Skating Center, but is a surefire way to strengthen your bond. The two of you will be falling for each other, literally!

Hot Cocoa

A night of sipping on hot cocoa is the most budget-friendly and intimate option on the list. This is the ideal date for couples who maybe like to stay in the comfort of the home and keep things simple.

Christmas Movie Marathon

A classic Christmas movie will undoubtedly bring back feelings of nostalgia and excitement that the holiday season is all about. Cuddle up with your boo and binge on classics like A Christmas Story, Home Alone, Nightmare Before Christmas, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Elf, and much more. The possibilities are endless.

Christmas Boat Parade

Living in California, we are lucky to be near an array of beautiful beaches. During the holiday season, several beaches hold Christmas themed boat parades decorated with dazzling displays of colorful lights. These events are highly photogenic, but can get chilly as they take place on the beach at night. Watch from the sidelines, or even ride on the decorated boats at a fee. Both Newport Beach and Huntington Beach host multiple nights of the event, while Marina Del Rey hosts a single night.

LA Zoo Lights

Lasting November 17th to January 7th, the LA Zoo holds a special holiday event known as LA Zoo Lights. The zoo is completely lit up with thousands of LED lights and various displays, all centered around animals, allowing for thousands of photo opportunities with your boo. From November 17th to 22nd, the event is offering admission for only $10 when purchased online.

Aquarium of the Pacific

Aquarium Holidays begins at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Every weekend starting December 2nd, experience the aquarium decked out in holiday decor with holiday music. General admission applies to this special event at about 30 dollars a person.

Volunteer

Give back this season to the less fortunate. There are plenty opportunities, ranging from helping out at a food bank, to distributing gifts at a hospital, and even just donating your old toys and clothes. Spend time with your boo and do an amazing service for the people in your community? SCORE. Plus, it is completely free.

Gingerbread House Making

Let your creative side out with your boo this holiday season by doing the super fun and immensely frustrating holiday activity of building a gingerbread house. Snap some pictures of your masterpiece, then it’s a snack for two!
